The Small Print

Disclaimer.

Plain English. No legalese theatre. This site is a fictional work, and here's exactly what that means.

Last updated: 2026-05-18. This page is the controlling disclaimer for everything on hoserpinball.ca. If anything elsewhere on the site reads as if Hoser Pinball Lounge is a real, operating business, the language on this page takes priority.

01Fictional work notice

Hoser Pinball Lounge is not a real venue. The business, its location, its hours, its machines, its tap list, its prices, and every person depicted on this site are invented. That includes the named characters Doug Tremblay, Sheila Tremblay, Steve Harris, and Dan Mach, and any details about their lives, careers, property, relationships, finances, and conversations.

The site exists as the reference engagement model of The Society for Talent Uplift and ReNewal ("TURN"), a not-for-profit society registered in British Columbia. It is used for training, demonstration, and educational purposes within TURN's customer-engagement programs.

Any resemblance to real people, businesses, properties, or events, whether living, dead, or commercial, is coincidental. Names that resemble real places or organisations (Cumberland, Comox Valley, Telus, BC Housing, Cumberland Brewing Co., Riders Pizza, and others) are used to ground the fictional setting and do not imply any relationship with, endorsement by, or involvement of those real parties.

02No offer or solicitation

Nothing on this site constitutes an offer to sell goods or services, an invitation to enter into a contract, or a representation that a venue, mailing list, booking system, tournament, private event, or any other commercial service exists or will exist.

Every call-to-action on the site (including "Get on the list", "See the barndo", "Tell us about your event", and similar buttons) is non-functional and routes back to this disclaimer. No payments, signups, reservations, deposits, or memberships will be accepted or processed through this site, by any operator named on it, or by TURN on its behalf.

03No business relationship

Visiting this site, reading it, sharing it, or interacting with any element on it does not create any advisor, agent, fiduciary, employment, partnership, joint-venture, or contractual relationship between you and TURN, the named characters, or anyone else.

04No reliance, no warranty

The content of this site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. TURN makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the accuracy, completeness, currency, reliability, suitability, or availability of the content for any purpose. Nothing on this site is legal, financial, tax, accounting, licensing, zoning, hospitality, or business advice, and nothing on it should be relied on as such.

Do not make decisions based on the content of this site. If you need advice on any of the subjects this site touches on, including starting a small business in British Columbia, contact a qualified professional.

05Third-party names, marks, and images

This site refers to third-party products and businesses descriptively, including but not limited to Black Knight, Funhouse, Eight Ball Deluxe, Williams Electronics Games, Bally Manufacturing, Pontiac, Trans Am, Datsun, BC craft breweries, the Province of British Columbia, Microsoft, and others. All such names, wordmarks, logos, and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners. Their use on this site is for descriptive, illustrative, and educational purposes only. No affiliation, endorsement, sponsorship, or approval by any such party is claimed or implied.

The three machine photographs displayed on the machines page are manufacturer publicity flyers originally released by Williams Electronic Games (Black Knight 1980, FunHouse 1990) and Bally Manufacturing (Eight Ball Deluxe 1981) to promote the corresponding pinball machines. Copyright in those flyers remains with the original manufacturers and their successors in interest. Their inclusion on this site is for the purpose of education and review under the fair-dealing provisions of the Canadian Copyright Act, s. 29 and 29.1, with attribution shown beneath each image and full provenance recorded in /public/images/machines/ATTRIBUTION.json in the site repository.

If you are a rights holder and you wish the use of any specific image reconsidered or removed, please contact TURN at sfturn.org and we will respond promptly.

06Copyright

All content on this site, including text, design, photography, illustration, graphic assets, source code, structured data, and the underlying reference engagement model, is © 2026 The Society for Talent Uplift and ReNewal. All rights reserved.

No part of this site may be reproduced, redistributed, translated, adapted, or incorporated into a derivative work, in whole or in part, by any means or in any medium, without the prior written permission of TURN. Brief quotation for the purpose of review, commentary, education, or news reporting under the fair-dealing provisions of the Canadian Copyright Act is permitted, provided the source is clearly attributed.

07Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by the law of British Columbia and the federal law of Canada applicable in British Columbia, TURN, its directors, officers, members, advisors, employees, contractors, and agents disclaim all liability for any loss, damage, claim, expense, or cost (including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages) arising from or in connection with your access to or use of this site, your reliance on any content on it, or any inability to access it.

This limitation applies regardless of the cause of action and whether the claim sounds in contract, tort (including negligence), statute, equity, or otherwise.

08Governing law and jurisdiction

This disclaimer and your use of this site are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable in British Columbia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. You and TURN each submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia sitting in Victoria for the resolution of any dispute arising out of or in connection with this disclaimer or this site.

09Privacy and data

This site is a static, non-interactive fictional work. It does not collect personal information from visitors, run forms, set advertising cookies, or share data with third parties. Standard server-level access logs may be retained by the site's infrastructure providers for security and operational purposes; those logs are not used for marketing or analytics.
